so as a result of our down economy, inflated profit margins, and some accountant in san antonio, i was let go from my job as a radio producer and update anchor yesterday.  at first, i was really sad.  i just wasn’t finished there yet.  i had been working with wes, our new host, for 15 months and i just had more work to be done there.  oh well.

after leaving work, i pulled over and cried a bit.  i’m not afraid to say that.  i was sad.  i made some wonderful friends there.  but then i quickly realized the opportunites that lay in front of me.  thankfully, the day before being let go was my three year anniversary which got me the highest level of severance pay.

so today, i’m on vacation.  along with 1,850 of the other clear channel employees that got the axe yesterday by someone at the corporate office that didn’t know them, or what they did, or all the extra things they added to the company.  they saw a position, a salary, and a way to find someone to do it for cheaper or someone else to do more at their current pay.

it’s the nature of the business tho.  especially working for clear channel.  i knew that any day could be my last.  i do still have my freelance work, and honestly i am looking forward to a short break before getting back on the grind.  i’ve already seen a few jobs i like both here in rva and away from home.

but for now, it’s vacation.  best of luck to all the great people not just at clear channel, but at circuit city and everywhere else today.  here’s to today’s changes barack obama put into executive orders and hope for more great change to come.

so it seems like elswick fail for now, has become just that.  this too, shall pass.  =]
